...Corals

More from my trip.

During the day, sun corals can look quite ordinary.

But at night, they open up and are beautiful.

Absolutely amazing!

I assume you're using a flash for the night photos. What about for the day photo?

I use twin strobes for all my underwater macro work. This is needed to preserve the colours and also to provide sufficient light for depth of field.

Whatever method you have settled on (I'm sure after much experimentation!), the results are consistent and spectacular.

Your underwater shots are as good as any I've seen anywhere, including National Geographic.

These are magic. The contrast between closed and open is like night and day.

And I like the closed shot too. :)

I'm still trying to take reasonably good pictures of flowers and you do this underwater! Amazing work.
