Couldn't get the sky as well. As I mentioned in another thread I'm bracket challenged. Working on it.
Crop OOC. removed some litter.

These are all from the far South Coast of New Zealand. An area known as the Catlins A road called the Southern Scenic Route runs though it, and wow is it well named.

Some Sea Wrack: OOC

A barn that caught my eye: OOC

Nugget point:
I just couldn't get a crop I was happy with. This was about 1/3 of the picture.

Greg,

For the shot you can't get the crop on ... why not post the original image, and see what we can come up with?

I noticed that your photos are in Adobe RGB. Correct me if I am wrong but this may cause colours to be washed out if viewed on the web. Even if you haven't bracketed, the sky can be replaced with a mask in the first.... [I haven't perfected this technique yet and didn't colour balance because of the differences in the colour spaces]

Let me know if you want me to take this down...

Leave it up. I'm happy for ideas to be shown on my images as long as what has been done is explained so I can learn from the change.

Replacing the sky is a Good idea, but I don't have a set of skies about. Never really thought about it. I am very much a "this is how it was" photographer, though I am taking baby steps away form the "slide" mentality as I move closer to "This is how I visualised it"

As for your take, I find the fair weather sky at odds with the implied violence (weather wise) of the subject. I think I would prefer a stormy sky.

Adobe RGB.

No idea about colour spaces, it it would explain why I think a lot of my images look washed out once posted. Will look into it thanks.

Yes I should have made the sky a little angrier... I don't have any rainy day skies on me... Nor any specatular lightning as Dan often captures...

Re: Color spaces; I would suggest setting sRGB when you are posting on the web and using a PC; Adobe RGB is for Macs..
