Theme 1: …merry


Theme 2: …black on black
I didn't get what I was after. The reflections from the lamp defeated me. This was the best of what I tried. Too many looked like Black on Grey.


Theme 3: …strong
At 9% Alcohol, this definitely qualifies as a strong beer. Tastes good too


Theme 4: …accepting
In these difficult times you are lucky to get a roof over your head, so accept whatever home you can make...

Wow, you are lucky to have such a colourful visitor making a nest on what looks like your shed.
Great colours and texture in the surrounding iron work.

Not my shed.
This is Happy's Hut. One of the heritage huts in Kozsciousko National Park. I am part of the caretaker party that looks after it. One of the few that survived the 2003 fires. The fire took out the wood store about 3m from the hut itself. A friendly helicopter pilot dropped his load of water on top of the hut which is why it survived. Our other hut (Happy Jack's 3&4) didn't fare so well.

The swallows (2) were quite perturbed by our visit. Probably because they were sitting on a nest of three eggs. And the nest was just above the fireplace.

The swallows did well to get the horseshoe up there... were they African or European swallows...

(For those that are wondering, that was a long stretch to Monty Python's The Holy Grail)

A great beer. Best in winter. It is still made by the monks in the monastery just outside the little town of Chimay in Belgium. AFAIK it is the only one that comes with a champagne style cork (large bottle only) and is marked with a vintage year.
