Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Was going for the first post of '09 but someone already beat me to it....dont you people sleep Well this was the first time I have ever seriously tried to photograph fireworks, the 9pm session was a dud for me since i had the camera pointing in the wrong position and a tree hiding all the action, however it did give me a few practice goes... 12 midnight session turned out ok, found myself a very nice tidy spot down in balmain east in a closed off building site I was able to escape the pissed teenagers and get a bit of quiet time before it all started... 4 hours of waiting for 15 minutes of pictures and a 45 minute bike ride home I thought it went fairly smoothly, I feel sorry for those poor suckers who drove to balmain....silly, silly people... not only did they have to contend with 'parking lot' traffic but also pissed idiots doing all manner of things to and on their cars anyway here are my four pictures of the night....I tried to get colours as much as possible...CC welcome....

They look great. Since this is your first time, I'd be interested to see when you learn to do it properly.
... Sleep ... What's that? ....

Fantastic shots Gerry... I tried this year to get some decent shots of the 9pm Manly fireworks, and it was all a bit hit and miss, but ended up with some keepers..will post later. Congrats on the great images...I'd be very happy if I took these!

Awesome.
I was going to go get the ones and Wollongong over the harbor but then found out they are only doing 9pm fireworks now...
meanwhile the Shellhabour workers club did both a 9 and midnight... figures...
At least the sydney ones look spectacular.

I actually went to the end of Wharf 7 for the 9pm fireworks, but I only got there for the tail end of those and without a tripod. I ended up on the roof of Broadway Shopping Center for midnight.
