could anything be harder ! so many pics not framed well as the boat bounces around.
got a few that seemed ok . taken with 80-200 @ F4, 1/4000sec..

This picture is pretty fine! looks like you have got the technique sorted now! I can only imagine it would be pretty hard, boat swerving everywhere, water going everywhere

By the way isn't he meant to be hanging onto that rope thingy ?

It can be hard the first few times but it gets easier to shoot from the boat. Try not to lean up against anything in the boat and short of bob around in their kneeling down on a seat.

It's a nice shot. I find that when I shoot wakeboarding I sit in the back seat on my knees and brace both my elbows on the back padded bit. Then I can kind of shock absorb myself and roll against the boat to stay upright. I also found that prefocusing seemed to work better than using continuous focus for some reason.

I like the way that the rope is visible and the water drops.

I've never shot wakeboarding, but have shot a bit of waterskiing years ago. We "only" had MF gear in those days, and I found that focussing was a piece of cake for skiing, as regardless of where the skier is, they're always pretty much the same distance from the boat (give or take a bit of rope stretch).

and thx for the tips. i was leaning up against the dash board as the kids had taken over the back seat !!
