Took some great pics of the fence at Clipsal! Here's a handful of slightly better photos. Cannot get rid of the haze caused by the fence though, any suggestions?

Great to see some pics of Clipsal already. Being 4500 kms away I could not make it this year. My only suggestion is I think the crop on number 1 is to tight. Not sure how to overcome the fence delema but will be interested in the outcome as I will be in the same boat at Townsville in July if they get there act together in time. By the way you would not be a bit partial to the dark side by chance. (The Blue Oval Brigade.) LOL.

You have to work with the fence and light not against it - when the sun is shining on the fence, forget that spot and move to another. The good thing about the Adelaide track is that there is always a spot to shoot where the fence is in the shade throughout the day. Look at this post for some examples from Friday in full harsh sun conditions..

Spray the fence black with a small can of model/hobby spray, use a shallow DOF, which will help blur the fence more, if AF keeps picking up the fence, use MF. Also use a slower shutter speed and pan with the cars, it will help to blur the fence mesh more. Bear in mind, that fence in there to save you, they don't care about it getting in your shots. At Indy, even accredited shooters had to deal with the fence, with the organisers spraying sections of fence black.

When it has been sprayed, it is suitable for color images, but not full glossy images. When it isn't sprayed, and is still it's natural metal color, your images are only going to be suitable for low res newspaper images.

Thanks for the tips guys - good ideas and simple things to learn, but if you don't know them they won't work. Bit more practice for me I think (another excuse to go out again, damn ).

The second pic (Frosty) is the perfect angle, and the vibrancy is spectacular! The last (Jim Beam team) is one of the best V8 shots I've ever seen - purely for the fact that both are team cars makes the perfect marketing shot (and it's worth money!! imo).

Personally I think that all of the crops are too tight, there is little sense of action. You could have got these shots with the cars stationary. The fence is part of the scene so don't worry about it.
