OK, another batch of Norwegian panos. All handheld, as before.

Each of the valleys was carved by a separate glacier.

I really like the colours in the first, and the #3 works will, showing relative size of the bridge to the mountains in the background. This really is a beautiful part of the world.

Excellent panos. It's a magical part of the world alright!

Both these and the other set are amazing- like to see them bigger.

Have you any with some foreground or are they mostly taken from on board? They are superb horizon type shots but I think some kind of foreground might add to the scale.

It's always a compromise between how large I'm prepared to make them available on the web and how much financial risk there is (e.g. some of these images have already been licensed to clients). I might make one available at a bigger size, but panos aren't really images that fit well onto our tiny web pages...

Meanwhile, here's a 100% crop from the left side of the first image (the pre-dawn glow one):

The photos that made up this image were 1/125s, f/4.5, ISO 1600 at 55mm on an APS-C camera, handheld on a ship moving at ~14 knots. I may rework the noise reduction, but at the final size it's pretty good as-is.

All of these were taken from on board, and you're right the foreground options were limited. Some of the shots in the first batch have better foregrounds.

The scenery here was impressive. Here's a tourist trying to capture it with their mobile phone:

You can see the glow from the clouds reflected on the white paintwork. Try to ignore the flotation device you can see behind him...

A couple of minutes later I turned around and took this:

Great panos Dave, in both of the series. They certainly would look great printed big. I really like the last one, the scenery in it is wonderful.

Which camera do you prefer for doing the panos, 5D or 7D?

The one that's in my hand!

The 5DmkII has lower noise, and the field of view is different, but that's about it. Differences in AF behaviour and shooting speed aren't really relevant here.
