your shallow focus control is lovely and the poses in both show some incipent drama which is makes them extra special
it makes you wonder if shes waiting for a waiter or someone special

Nice shots, I actually prefer the similiar one from the other thread, mainly due to the smile! however these have quite a different mood, the non-smiling face and the empty wine glasses really creates a scene, as mentioned, very apt for your title. My only suggestion on the first would have been to include the elbow, maybe a landscape shot, cropped to square? anyway, easy to say in hindsight.

#1 is really nice and tells a story, probably a slightly different story to each viewer which I think is a good thing. TO me it feels like she just laid eyes on her date who's late with no notice and her initial relief is giving way to some anger.
Either way, I think it's great and love the shallow DOF and great control to get the model in focus nicely.
