I just wanted to get some feedback on some of the stuff that I have shot recently. So first off the bat are some pano's and a HDR. Click through for 5000 pixel images

These Panos were shot using the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 and the Cokin P series Graduated ND8 stacked with the Graduated ND4

only thing i have to say is that the grads look as if they grad to low in the first image... but its a personal preference thing. =D

your panos look great in some of them i would darken the valley a little because the clouds take over a bit
but all in all havnt seen much large panos of the area so well done

Hey Cameron,
The first two look a little odd to me with the darkened sky. It does not really seem go with the lighter valleys.
The later two look great.

Thanks Colin, I think I overdid the Grad ND's a bit...maybe it is time to get a ND2...the single ND8 was not enough.

Great set but I think number 2 is the standout.

In the first there is a natural V in the floor of the valley which seems to be central to the picture (On Purpose Im Sure), which I think looks a bit to uniform. Its there again in the 2nd image, but off to the left of centre which suits the image a little better.

The large gap in the clouds seems to form a bit of a hole also in number 1 where as image number 2 this gap if filled and makes the picture looks a bit more complete.

Number 3 I think the dark shadows on the right are very overpowering and take away from the overall image

Number 4 the HDR effect does not do a thing for me. I've tred a few Nature HDR shots myself and are yet to find one where I am happy with the result. Don't get me wrong I've seen it done, and done well but in this case jsut does not rock my world.

Its only an opinion, ands my wife does not value it so maybe someone on here might.
Looks like the walk up may have been a killer but still worth the effort.

I agree with the others that the first 3 have the filter dominating the photo. It would be interesting to ask your non-photog friends to see what they think. I think I am biased as I know you used the grads.

I quite like the last HDR althought personally would try to get rid of the man made structure on the left hand side either through framing or cloning. Slight pano style crop (crop from bottom) may also suit.

I know what you mean by not being quite there. I struggle with this as well. This will have to be one of my better efforts, but still not 100% on this one either.

Thanks mate, I will have a play with a pano crop on the HDR.

Clouds look very eye catching

I'm glad you found some nice weather. It wasn't easy last weekend.

#4 really bothers me. I do not like what the HDR treatment has done to the clouds. Mind you I am not a fan of HDR at the best of times.

#2 for me too.
#3 Mt Solitary & Narrow Neck have too much shadow on them
#1 The gradation is too strong & the tree RHS does not help the image.

Interesting comment about the "V" It had never really registered with me before & this is a view I look at often. It is my backyard after all.
