OK, I admit it, I am wandering around looking at little stuff to photograph.

"Oooh, that looks interesting" (No, it doesn't)

"Wow, that texture will look great" (No, it won't)

"Hey, what are these things sticking out of the door?" (Er, no idea)

These are at the base of a screen door - it is where Lily (the cat) passes to go in and out.

There are maybe 10-15 small filaments with a white thing on the end. My first thought was some sort of fungus. Rosanne wondered whether they were cat fur which something had attached itself to....

Beats me. Bloody hard to photograph though.

Greg, I think their known as "thingy's" or "whatsamacallits"...does that help?

I have no idea what the things are, but when photographed well like this and in this way makes it interesting though...

Slime Moulds! I'm pretty sure thats what they are- the fruiting body stage of them at least.

Greg, now we all expect you to get photos as they release their spores

Actually its coming up to my favourite time of the year for spores- lots of toadstools in the forests where I sometimes go mountain biking.

Years ago I was asked by the local TV station in Tamworth to investigate a UFO report for them... which turned out to be nothing more than the planet Venus, and fairly rings of slime mould on the lucerne. The person reporting the UFO claimed it had landed in the paddock!
