Hi everyone, nice forum!

Anyway, the first day I got my D70 (off ebay), my dad and I went for a little walk to Buckley's Falls.

I took my 18-70mm and my 70-300mm along with me and took some photos.

Here are a couple of the better ones:

Monty - welcome to the forum and what a stunning pic (#1) for your first post.

To get the bird sharp and the movement of the water is fantastic. :D

Two great pics there Monty. Well done. It's nice to see a bird other than a duck on this forum too. :D

Does anyone actually know what kind of bird that is? Because it seemed really tame and it let me get within 2 meters of it.

Both great pics. I THINK that is a Bittern (perhaps a Mangrove Bittern going by the colouring.)

Although I like the colors in the waterful which match the colors in the bird, I find it's just a little bit soft. Whereas the second photo is sharp as a Zwelling Henckel Knife, which I might add is very sharp :) So I'd have to go the 2nd as my favorite.

Being new to digital photgraphy and everything, i was really amazed at the clarity, sharpness and colours the D70 gave me.

It really is a great camera.

Although, the only thing that has bothered me is the fact that there is no iso 100. BTW, i would recomend you click the link for the larger picture because that is when you really see the sharpness.

The onboard flash just lightened the bird up a bit. It worked really well because i was so close to the bird.
