A sample of photos I took recently for an assignment for a Jeweler in Cairns. First time ever used the D70 after owning it only one and a half weeks. Quick got to know it session shooting some home jewelry bought in Egypt and then it was on to the real deal. It was such a pleasure to shoot then immediately view to gauge quality and lighting effect. Appreciate any comments.
Oh! The site is http://www.pixspot.com/index.php?cat=10168

I really like the Opal shots, especially this one:

Thanks for sharing these - could you let us know some more specifics about your setup? What lighting did you use, perhaps even a sketch? Would really like to understand this side of photography better :)

Thanks again.

Jewelry shoot setup

I did a lot of reading first as it was my first product shoot and first attempt at jewelry. I constructed a light tent from wooden dowling some white plastic corner joins(size-about 2 foot cube) bought from Bunnings and transluscent white cellotaped scrim paper around the lot. Used 3 Nikon wireless flash units (SB26,SB80DX and SB600)with an sc-17 cord connected SB 600 as main flash and 2 small morris mini slave units on either side of the lens to front light the products. Incidentally the larger of the 2 opal rings was $16500. The Black Pearl necklace was worth $22500!
Think of how much gear you could buy with that!

Those are nicely done, IMO. They look like they belong in a catalog. :D
