Well done! The second pic was taken in extremly high contrast lighting and that will never produce the high quality you are after. Exploit those bright, cloudy days for maximum image quality, otherwise you will be in "damage control" mode.

The first is a bewdy, the second looks like it would have been difficult in that hard light...
