Leek' link to this guys site got the better of me and i had to have a go. Dammed hard without an automatic timing mechanism. These 2 are my feeble attempt. I did have some higher crested splashes but my exposure was off. Opinions please!

They look good, out of interest how did you setup these shots.

I've been thinking about doing something similar, but wasn't sure the best way to try and capture these sorts of images.

In this case you shot it real, very timely capture - nice one
did you convert these into black and white?

did you use a flash as well, I can see some light reflections but overall

maybe next time use a deeper tub and change the lighting so the shadows of the splash don't show up, the water is too clear and in both shots I can see the distracting shadows on the bottom of the tub

Shot on a glass surface, side lit with a softbox. SB800 set on auto. Manual mode at f7.1 1/125sec hand timed, this was the hard part. Took about 10 goes to nail one.
I used liquid coffe to drop so as to give some density to the shot. Obviously a bit of PP was needed. I probably could stopped down a bit more.
As someone posted before you need patience.

Yeah, nice work doing it manually.

I'm in the process of gathering components to build a sound & light trigger, in order to give this technique a good bash...maybe sometime this weekend I'll be able to build it.

The shapes of the moment frozen are awesome. You must have good reflexes to capture that manually wow I might catch the ripples at the end

The shadows detract but wonder what it'd be like dropping the liquid onto the surface of a mirror??? Hmmm, will have to play... That liquid sculpture site has some amazing images, I think it's inspired a lot of us to try some experiments...
