Hi All, well i spent a day over the border in Victoria for MotoX held at Bridgewater over looking the coast in the background. Was lots of bikes and lots of action and was a great day except i took too many pictures and got to the stage i started shooting jpg. Most done with 300m, and some with the sigma 70-200.
Now i know there is someone under there!! These 2 are local boys.
Now just to show you just how many bikes they had in a race, here is an example, 40 bikes and this is just some you can see.
Cheers
John
Now to start getting some on the website.

Just when I think you've shown us your best stuff, you come out with even more examples of your talent, John.
Sorry - I can't pick a winner out of this lot. Colour, speed, guts and dirt. Fantastic stuff.

John
what a messy sport but I must say ripping it up on green pastures adds to your composition your landscapes are awesome. I particularily like the ones where the dirt is in the air number 3 is a classic capture.
excellent!

Thanks Ben and kevin, but Kev i think they look cool and also a lot of work as these things throw you about a bit, 2 of them had a stack at the end as one went up the back of the other and rolled over but yes all fun.

Wow John, these are all friggin' awesome!!

Those stump removers really fling up the dirt and it's great to see this in dirtbike pic's for a change. You've done well to capture this. Fantastic mate!

Awesome shots, the one that really grabbed me was shot 3. The explosion of dirt just a fantastic capture. Real inspiring stuff!

I don't think they are your usual standard actually.
I think their BETTER!

Love number three and the one you posted by itself, the 'roosts' are even so sharp, you can see the individual clumps of dirt.
Pity you aren't going to the V8's at Bathurst, would like to see what you could do there! (and get some hints/tips from you

)
Bloody great pics. Thank christ I have unlimited broadband!

Thanks Jase, Craig, Raskill yeh sorry it is hard to think of people on dial up anymore as being on BB so long you tend to forget, but yes i was rather happy with the shots besides taking too many i have to try and restrain myself, it is bloody hard when you have portable backup drive so can dump cards etc...
Also i try to get pictures of all the bikes not only as a groups but per rider incase there is a shot that the rider might like, so having lots of bikes at a meet is a lot of photo's so i tend not to spend time on them even with my dust bunnies unless i get an order or if i want to show here, then i will touch up.
I have just spent a few minutes cleaning my sensor and all micky mouse again. Ready for the big weekend this week coming, 3 days of motorbikes, wonder if i can try restrain from taking too many.
Cheers
John

Thanks Trev, and DH for spending the time to wait for them to load up, i am glad you liked them, like i said these are just a few i quickly grabbed out the 600+ shots but did not put all on my website, i try to limit myself to 300, if only i can limit myself on hitting the shutter button. I cant help myself.
Cheers

G'day mate,
Saw BBJ and bike shots so I just HAD to have a sticky at 'em... Wow, these are bloody great! You have the motor sport stuff down pat mate.
The dirt flying, sharp as a tack and fantastic colour, all I need is the dirt in the teeth and I'm there!

Great stuff...

some great looking work John. a really low angle your working with. was there any barriers protecting you? how the af speed of the af-i on the d70 for you?
i trying to get a hold of one, but the seller seems to be busy most of the time. I guess i can wait the next thing i be shooting sport wise will probaby be in december.

John, do you find since the images are looking great straight out of the camera, that it's better to shoot JPG than RAW?

by BBJ
Thai, i find the focusing a lot faster with this lens. I think it is great nice and crisp, and yesthis has been the 1 issue i have with the D70 was its focus speeed, although this is no pro camera so cant expect that to be + would be nice. Anyhow i have noticed the differance and think it is great.
No barriers, in this game. It was a paddock out on the coast near Bridgewater Bay Vic, all that was done was some tyres marking out a track through the hills. Grasstrack race and you take the chance to get your pics i sighn the indemnity form and yeh. You get hit it's on your back, like most motorsports and well most sports.
Oh Jason, i will still take RAW but like i did i took to many and switched to jpg and yes now i could see myself doing this if i get to shutter button happy like i do.
