Great first image post Antman!

That second one has got me quite perplexed...almost like reverse rain!

In the first one, I'd maybe give it a tweak on contrast or sharpening - it's a great shot but just seems a tad soft to me.

Don't forget to include your location in your profile so we know where to send the fan mail...

:D

Great first post.

I think in the first one the horizon could do with some straightening but is is a really nice pic. where is it?

Thanks Jonesy,

I'm pretty sure it was Cambridge. One of the colleges there.

2nd pic was off Narrabeen Headland.

Hi Geoff

welcome to our community
Your picture of Cambridge is lovely, it's rare to see a gorgeous sunny day in olde sunny England.

Keep on posting

Nice work Geoff.

I agree that the first one would benefit from straightening, although I don't know whether I would sharpen it - the relative softness is part of the appeal for me.

The second is a very interesting capture.

Terrific start Geoff :D Not sure about the straightening though. I am not one of those who thinks that the earth is flat

Thanks for the replys.

Still not sure about the horizon needing staightening. I think it may just be a bit of an optical illusion. The tops of the buildings look pretty horizontal to me.

I appreciate the constructive comments.

Nice images antman - thanx for posting them. :)

If you hold a ruler square to the bottom edge of your monitor, you'll see that your vertical lines in #1 ARE vertical. Therefore the picture does not need to be straightened.

There is an illusion of the image being tilted because:
- the pic was not taken square to the building, but on an angle
- the bottom of the building appears to rise as it recedes into the frame. You often see this effect with shore lines as well.

You can prove this by rotating the image in PS until the bottom of the building appears to be straight to your eye, then checking the vertical lines in the building.

Lovely building BTW. :)
