Blatant PLUG

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Here is some advertising for Mauritius. If anyone wants to go I can give suggestions for accomodation, from cheap to impossible.

Was the water really that colour or have you bumped the saturation?

Image looks great BTW

G'day Heath,
Wow, what an image, certainly a pearler as an advertising plug... Have some time off in October but won't be going to anywhere as exotic as Mauritius... Or are you just gloating

Just recently back myself it is certainly that colour. The island is nearly completely surrounded by a reef which makes the beaches quite flat & calm as well.

I actually have a friend who owns a beach house there and wants me to mention it - I can refer details to anyone interested in a PM.

Stubbsy, the water is very accurate near the horizon level, there was a cloud passing over darkening the water so I have PPed the foregroung to better match the background. It is this colour at Grand Baie also, a little north of where this was shot.

Great colour and image.

Out of curiosity and to make myself feel worse than normal, how impossible is impossible?

Thanks mate. At times, outside the reef the water has a purpleish tone, inside when there is no coral or flora the water can get rediculously 'aqua' like the colour of swimming pool interiors.

It is pretty rediculous at the top. The top villa at Le Touessrok hotel is supposedly USD$7500 a night. The clientele actually choose by price, and want them to be as pricey as possible! They are said to be rarely empty. The world isn't fair!

The Royal Palm is the resort that has the most stars visiting. Recently JLo and Prince Harry visited. But other resorts look nicer IMHO.

It is me - I gave a friend my cam to shoot it from the boat, thus the height.

I can see it now, was thinking about doctoring that pic up Heath and add a nice big Noahs Ark would look cool. Big white pointer with his head in it's mouth, but yeh very nice pic, reminds of when i went to Suva as a kid and seeing the kids swimming in water like this with sharks.

I think this is a great pic to show off the fairly minimal distortion of the Nikkor 12-24 @ 14mm. No PP as far as distortion correction.

Yeah they did! And I have photos of them holding hands on the beach. The major gossip mags are on the phone offering me millions. Looks like I can afford to take you all to MRU for a little photo holiday. :)
