POTW 20/12/11Firstly, as this is the last POTW before christmas, I would like to offer my sincere wishes for both a happy christmas and new year to all members.
This weeks POTW is a fantastic example of simplicity. Of the shots posted I have chosen the first as it represents an artistic approach to a subject that is not that easy to capture. The space on the left gives the subject matter a more powerful presence and the faded background gives emphasis to the colour in (of) the flower. The delicate veins of the flower gives this image a delicate feel but in the end produces a powerful image. Well done to Geoff M for this photo: Chris

Re: POTW 20/12/11Of an awesome bunch of photos posted in the last week, this is a great choice for POTW.
Re: POTW 20/12/11I seldom agree with the POTW but this week I wholeheartedly do. Congrats Geoff!
Cheers Steffen.
Re: POTW 20/12/11Sensational, simple, sublime. An excellent image for potw, well deserved and well chosen Chris.

Re: POTW 20/12/11Nice choice and top shot.
Re: POTW 20/12/11Thanks guys, it gives me a nice warm glow inside to know that others appreciate the images. All the images in the original post were lit with my recently purchased R1C1 flash kit (x2 SB R200's) and supplemented by an additional SB800. Being selected for POTW sort of justifies the investment!
I hope to get a third SB R200 from Santa to fill the empty spaces in the R1 kit box. A mighty fine piece of marketing on Nikons part, I don't need the extra flash, I just don't want the empty spaces!
Re: POTW 20/12/11I've been ogling that R1C1 for a while, eventually I'll cave in…
Would you mind sharing how you set up the lights in this shot? Cheers Steffen.
Re: POTW 20/12/11
I had been considering the purchase for quite sometime too, glad I made the purchase. For the shot selected as POTW I used just two SB R200's, one was directed onto the b/g which is a off white roller blind, the graduation from light to dark is the light fall off. The second flash was to the front and left of subject. I let the Nikon TTL do it's stuff on this particular shot. Others in the original post had differing light setups and as said also had the SB800 adding additional lighting from above.
Re: POTW 20/12/11Now, this is simply beautiful.
Re: POTW 20/12/11Sublime image - perfect composition - great choice
