A week or so ago I had issues printing (see thread here). Reason for printing was for a competition I was told about from my mother in law. We basically had 24 hours to print out, frame and deliver the framed photos.
Eventhough my entry didn't win the major prize, it did win the "section", which was people. I am stoked. Thanks to all the people on this forum who helped me out, especially gstark who showed me some PP techniques (Original thread here). Did I say I was stoked
This is the picture I entered.
On Display (how bad is this shot)
For interested parties the competition was run by Wyong Council (Central Coast), its an annual event not restricted to locals. They had about 550 entries and I believe the display runs for a week.
Cheers
Mike

Michael,
I think it's fair to say that we are all thrilled on your behalf. I certainly am.
Congratulations, and well done.

Best child portrait I've seen in a long time. I wonder how it would have done toward the major prize as a B&W (not advocating a change, just wondering).

Mike, Happy to hear you did win the section as i think this picture is wonderful. Powerful in it's own way and looks like it could tell a story, but well done.

The judges got it wrong! Your image is outstanding and should have been awarded first prize. Name and shame the judges!

Congrats Mike. It's a great shot and you are a very deserving winner. The shot below it of the bridge looks a bit same old, same old with a fisheye. Did that win a prize too?

Again, thank you all. Its an amazing feeling to have your work displayed for public perusal, and then to win something is a bonus.

I haven't done a b&w conversion on this one. I'll give it a go... Birddog114 wrote:Mike, Congratulations and excellent works! Yes, use this to demand another lust to develop your talents

I think the bridge won the "landscape" section. I think With the landscapes, size counts. Having a landscape print on a A4 next to an A3 cant be compared. There were some great landscapes but only small print. Matt. K wrote:ozczecho The judges got it wrong! Your image is outstanding and should have been awarded first prize. Name and shame the judges!
, thanks Matt. But the winning entries were truly outstanding. Unfortunately the lighting was really bad and caused reflections in the glass so I couldn't take a picture worth showing here. I wouldn't want to be a judge.
