Vineyard after the rainHi all. I went out at sunset this evening and caught this shot. The sun was still fairly high in the sky which is why the sky is bright on the left, however taking raw I was able to reduce the compensation down and get some detail in it.

Love the shades of green, it anything it looks a tad dark (and that's on my 'burn your retina' LCD).
I honestly can't see much of a difference... but I have to scroll between one and the other. Let me have a sleep and I'll get back to you with rested eyes

This is superb, albeit a little oversaturated. The light hitting the vines really works a treat. Both shots look the same to me too! Peter

The light is simply gorgeous. Great pic this one.

Lovely green tones Owen.
I would crop a little from the right and a little from the bottom. Great picture! Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Hi Guys. I'm sorry, I uploaded the new version, renamed the old one and was about to fix up the link in the first post when my computer was turned off on me... sorry about that. The original is there now, and as you can see it's a fair bit darker.
The saturation level was one of the concerns I had... does it look 'false'?
Owen you live in a vineyard

I realise you took these at sunset Owen, but for me the second one (which I prefer) looks like the early morning sun just hitting the vines.

Owen - I don’t know why this happens but, unlike the majority, I really, really like the first image.
The play between the light and the dark gives the pic mystery and above all depth of perception. It is not always better to have clear perception throughout an image. Frame and hang - #1 ![]() Chris

Really like the second one, at least compared to the first on my 4 yo NEC lcd monitor.

Thankyou very much for all the comments. It's always interesting to see what appeals to different people, and I can understand how the darker image has some different qualities to it. I'm inclined to like the first one a bit better, mainly because when I lighten it up there is a bit of extra noise plus the darker areas do appeal to me.
Again, thanks for all the comments. Regards, Owen.
