Moonlight on the Howe SoundIt was quite the evening of night photography last night. I sort of wish I put the horizon a little higher up, but there was a metal ramp that was creeping into the frame, so this seemed like the right thing to do.

Hey dooda, that is an awesome image. It's absolutely brilliant. THe image tags need fixing up, but the image itself doesn't!
What a gorgeous image. Fantastic lighting, great angle and beautifully produced.
Steve.

Dooda, without a doubt your latest midnight landscapes are quite stunning. Just out of curiousity, how long are you out there wandering around at night...also isn't it freezing right now in Canada?

Yup it was pretty cold. I had two coats on, and a heavy hood. I do this (take night photos) whenever I have the chance. When my wife is away flying or training (she just made captain) I get out as much as possible.
I was on a lake earlier, thought that the ice was sufficiently frozen...nope, got soaked in freezing water midway to shins. I still spent the next two hours taking photos though, and luckily too because this one came from that group. I have lots of others I'm still working on. They'll be up shortly. Some of the older members remember me working up in Whistler, and taking lots of landscapes. Many may remember me doing a photos for Santa gig up there. It went well and they called me back this year for double the money. I went and did the shoot, and coming home I had all the time in the world, a bright half moon, and landscapes that I've wanted to shoot for a really long time, but unable to up until now. Dooda - Brilliant stuff, as said above your night time landscapes have been inspirational! I hope you have room on your walls to hang this one too!
Awesome

That's one sophisticated shot, you could really sell that for top dollar to an advertising agency, maybe next location shot for the new mercedes or high end fashion shoot.
Stunning Dooda - just love the soft tones.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments!
Onyx, I haven't the superwide yet. But I think I've taken the kit lens off once since getting the camera cleaned a couple of months ago. I believe within the next month I'll own a Sigma 10-20mm though. With $400 from photos with Santa, and a little extra money, it isn't very far off. Funny thing about the cold, I don't even feel it when I'm in the zone taking pictures. It's the drive back (I notice it too when I break through the ice.) Mate, this is surreal or magical, almost has a CGA look to the colours and edges... Like JZA70-mel, I'm wondering about the middle pontoon thingy?
You had a terrific vision when you set this one up... Aka Andrew
Hi Dooda,
great image, great composition. What is the object on the right hand side of the photo ? I feel it is out of focus or blurred; how, I don't know. Due to long exposure ? Again great image. Imagine that object was perfect too ... What a perfect image !!! Cheers, CD
Sensational image Dooda. I love it.
Talk about committment to the cause... Andrew
Yeah, that pontoon was bobbing slightly. If I took this when it was more quiet it would be sharp, but I don't mind the blur, as it adds to the story. I've become decidedly more forgiving about that stuff. Just printed this out at 20x30, and it looks fab. People ask me about it and sit and look at it, and we start talking, and I say, yeah, it was bobbing up and down, and people seem to like that, it gets them involved with the process and story of taking it a little bit.
I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like though. I might reshoot tomorrow.
I don't think this is eligible for POW, it lost out to the current one. Unless I'm on some kind of time difference...I uploaded it on the Sunday (I think). Maybe not. I'd be thrilled otherwise.
I really appreciate all the comments.
