Overland track pics - heaps. Make yourself a drink while loading, but they are quite well compressed.

A chance to introduce the family here at dslrusers to some of my family!

Was very happy with the performance of the D2x - 6 day hike, didn't need to use my backup battery!

Very glad I brought waterproof sealable bags for lenses and body. Lenses brought were for their weight - 12-24DX, 50mm 1.4, & Tamron 90 macro.

My family name is Bennett, and this is 'Bennett's Wallaby', amoung the 'heath', not far from 'Lake Will' and also 'Lake James'... Seems like this place has all the names from half my family!



We had this hut (and its awesome view) to ourselves on the first night, so we saw no point in pitching tents:

Heath, a great collection of shots made stronger by the apparent bond your family has and the story you've told with these photos. The B&W of the stone skipping are timeless in my opinion, just lovely. Please let your family know it was a pleasure to meet them, and I look forward to more shots.

How did the D2X go so far as packing it?

my favourite is #4, the shot with the water in foreground and mountain in the back.

I also think a pano crop would suit this shot too, cropped so the guy on the LHS has equal distance to the top and bottom of the frame.

Could see that hanging on the wall like that.

Heath absolutely great series. A life time of memories in one adventure with those you are deply bonded to. All the shota are great. Stunning colour and wonderfully crafted. I'm sure we all wish we could have joined you in that spectacular wilderness.

Funny thing. I was looking at a photo of Cradle Mt the other day and saw the small ponds on top of the ridge overlooking and wanted to get down there to have a closer look. Well you did that for me. Thanks

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. It is a pleasure sharing my family with you. I am sorry to disappoint but I don't think we get along as well as these pictures portray! Photos definately lie, shame really... My stepmum is especially anti-photography and made things pretty difficult. Anyhow, that is already far too personal!

MHD, the D2x was in a day pack on my front, in a day pack. The extra 5 odd kilograms that all the gear weighed really took its toll. I am a pretty proud fella and I tried to hide my limping towards the end - my knee got badly inflammed. Pride before a fall.

I took the D2x, 50 1.4, 90 1.1 and 12-24 DX. Spare battery, 5 CFs, copious amounts of plastic and sealable waterproof bags.
