Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Taken at Edward Point Reserve at St Leonards, Vic.
Lighting wasn't the most ideal as it was taken at 8.30am. Should of got up earlier but I decided I should layin until 5.30am
Going to try and get up early tomorrow morning at 3.30am and be there for 5.30-5.45am. Gives me a bit of time to get to the lagoon.
Only nits that I have with the image at the moment is centre placement and I should of probably adjusted the exposure a 1/3 bit more and given it a bit of a sat boost.

Cheers guys.
Alex, no photoshopping except for the typical exposure/level/brightness/sat adjustments. Background is the lagoon, it's usually fairly easy to get a good bg with shorebirds. Just get down to eye level (this requires lying on your belly) with the bird and they'll usually stray in front of the lends from time to time while working the shore for food.
Narelle, unfortunately the website is a bit broken at the moment and I'm not sure how. Goto http://darryl.smugmug.com for all the photos. Trying to get around to make a website that will provide me with news/log/journal of what I'm doing along with photos of my outings. However I never become satisfied with the out of the box solutions for some reason.

Doh.....was suppose to get up at 3.30am this morning to go and photograph these birds and some others in more attractive light (sunrise) but I slept in
Weather is beautiful too, it's going to be 42C here. Why does sunrise have to be so early

Wanted to get up early also for the last sunrise of 2005, looked out, it didn't looked great, that's all I needed to get back to bed.
Another great shot here Darryl. Keep them coming.
