Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

A new surf series
Took a few snaps at a local junior surf competition last Sunday, surf a bit milky but a nice day.
Just back this afternoon from an overnight trip to Snapper Rocks. After last week's excellent swell I was banking on taking many photos at the Quicksilver Pro. Alas there was a gale blowing, a 6 metre swell, driving rain and surf resembling a Hoover twin tub. Oh well, there's always next year... Here's one of about three from yesterday at Snapper's. Taylor Knox (USA) in a winning heat ride through the rain and wind.

Mate, fantastic shots as per usual and bloody good to see you have been getting back into these surf shots. I like them all and well what can i say i always look forward to your surf shots and these are great, keep it up mate.

Have tidied the photos up a bit, was a bit tired last night when submitting same and I was not sure what I was doing...at least I was not sure that I was sure....?

nice work, which lens were you using?
If you saw a shooter down there sporting a Canon 1DS MkII and a 600mmF4 with a 2X teleconverter that was the Courier-Mail covering it for QWeekend. If only I had the keys to their lens cabinet. lol Mark Greenmantle

My trusty old Tamron 300mm. I keep it a cheap lens for several reasons. 1. If I fall in the surf it's no great loss. (Actually last week I waded out too far and got caught with a back wash and nearly went under) 2. It was cheap, actually it was a freebie 3. It takes very good photographs is you can get close enough Yep, I too would like to borrow some of the good equipment. Better still, I would like to own a nice Nikon 600mm lens.

ahh there's a huge difference, he'd never have been wading out into the water with that lens.
we once had a shooter lose about $50,000 of equipment up at Barron Gorge north of cairns while covering an extreme sports gig. His whole bag fell out of the canoe and was not recoverable. Mark Greenmantle
