Young woman on ferry - a candidThis is a heavily cropped image of a young woman on the Manly ferry today. I shot this through the window while she was waiting to disembark. Which says a lot about the 5D and the 135 f/2

Excellent portrait, Sheila. I would have never thought it was shot through a window. Very sharp and nicely composed.
Alex
Wow! Both the image and the young woman are beautiful..

Shelia,
Love it, beautiful, engaging, exquisite! (And through glass ?? What the !!!! ) Awesome stuff!
Is it me, or is it a little noisy? In particular in the shadow area near her scarf...
I noticed that you had eye contact for the shot... What was her reaction to being photographed? Cheers, John

Here is the original image (shot RAW) and no post processing and through glass (possibly that was where the noise came from

It has a real National Geographic feel to it (as in one of those really engaging covers).
Leek - The shot was taken at ISO 1000, and through the window so I'd say the combination would result in the noise you seeing. Personally it doesn't really bother me, the eyes just keep drawing my attention.
The cropped version works better for me - no distractions. Its a great capture of her and her beautiful eyes.
Beautiful eyes and gorgeous skin tones. Sheila, you have excelled yourself again with a beautiful portrait.

Thanks all. When I showed my husband (who is my most honest critic), he said he preferred the window shot too.

Sheila I am still interested to know of her reaction when she realised that she was being photographed.

Hi Sheila,
very well captured. Looked at the B&W version on your pbase site as well. I must say that I prefer the colour version. Cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams

She did not seem to mind. I am sure, with a face like that, she is used to having her photo taken. If she had objected, I certainly would not have posted this image but it would have remained on my hard drive. Cheers Sheila Sheila Smart

Once again, your portrait are a pleaure to look at, i've always been a massive fan of your portraits. I too prefer the framed version i still can't believe that is a crop and @ ISO 1000 ![]()
Sheila, that is a wonderful shot of a beautiful face. I'm sure the young lady would love to have a copy - it's a shame she never will.
