Bloody brilliant. The first three are awesome and the vanishing points really draw the eye into the photo.

Sharp too, which just confirms my respect for the kit lens.

excellent photos. only one i have a problem with is the 2nd one, i would straighten the photo using the first edge of the road (horizontal). i have a real problem with things not being straight in photos.

I have a real problem with people who think everything should be square! :D

I don't think the photo needs straightening at all. Not everything in nature is perpendicular or horizontal.
If you look at the topography in this landscape, you'll see that the land falls away from left to right as we look at the image.
In fact, the best guide IMHO are the trees on the top of the (sloping) horizon. They are all vertical. If the picture was tilted to the left to make the road horizontal, these trees would be tilted 10 degrees left of vertical.

Again, a wonderful collection of evocative images. All are simple in their construction, but perfect in their execution. Composition and colour are excellent, and the non-colour image (#2) has great tonal depth.

Well done.

Stunners! Especially the first three. Can't decide out of those which ones I like best. I'm thinking of running away to Canada one day. Looks nice, and there's no John Howard over there. Plus I like to ski.

Lovely images all :D I am also with Trevor, nothing needs to be straightened. Why is it that some cannot accept nature as it is? The world is a sphere and it is very hard to find a straight line in nature.

my favourites are 3 and 5.

think 3 would also work with some grass cropped so the image is a pano.

well done.

Lovely stuff Dee. They're 5 beautiful images that deserve to be printed nice and large.

Another vote from me for ignoring how straight the photo should be. They look great as they are and I'd leave 'em alone.

I particularly like 2,3 and 5. I would not straighten anything. This bit of land is not straight!

Beautifully captured series Dee. In a perfect world #1 would be absolutely perfect had the technicians decided to install underground electricity and nature done the favour of removing that slight distraction, albeit more tolerable than the electricity poles, on the right edge of frame dead little tree/bush, but hell I'm getting picky. They are all stunning :) My fav however, is #3 :)

Dee

Excellent work from you as usual. #1 and #3 are the standouts for me. While the clouds and distant horizon in #2 are great, the lack of foreground interest detracts from the impact of the image. #4 is just a little too tight for me. Note: I'm being extra picky with you since I know the high quality of your work.

Dee - IMO #2 has a quality that deserves to be exhibited so that the masses can enjoy such a brilliant photograph

Dee - you always post such wonderful images - I feel like I'm lying down in the middle of the road with your first shot (and feel like I should be looking behind me to make sure there isn't a truck on its way !!!!), 2,3 and 5 are just beautiful. Not sure about 4 ... something about it doens't click :?

Congrats as always

Dee, these are loverly shots and cant say anymore than what has been said. A lot of people bag the kit lens, dont know why but i think it is great and i still use it often and will not get rid of it as it is the only wide angle lens i have when i return Jonesy's 10-20m back when he picks it up.
I like #1 as well and well as usual your shots are great.
Cheers

I couldn't agree more. For me, this pic is like watching sport at the highest level. You know, where the player(s) make it look so simple you'd reckon you could do it too.

This pic is so simple in many ways. There is not one outstanding feature that isolates your senses. Rather it is a subtle appreciation of everything in the image that makes it work.

And, I'm not sure what the PP treatment is, but it is a delight. The richness and depth of the tones is simply outstanding.

I confess that I have returned to this post several times just to view this image, because it speaks to me in some way.

My fullest congratulations Dee. :D
