Interesting effect.

The human element in the second one does it for me.

Agreed.

If you look closely in the first (more evident at larger size) there is a father and son fishing off the point. Still, I agree.

Lovely time of day and scenes Heath. I really like the second one beautifully framed with a great feel despite perhaps a little too much burnt orange filter in the background
cheers

I actually love the first one. The effect you've created with the light captured on the rocks is stunning.

I can see that it could be a little too burnt for your taste, but no filters were used in this shot, and only global photoshop changes (curves and sharpening). Am I misunderstanding what you mean by filters Marco?

I second Wendell's comments - where the heck is this place? And the surfer looks like he's about to go surfing on some sci-fi planet

Up the coast - along a shocking dirt road for a while... Can't remember the name of the place we ended up at.

I love these, although for some odd reason the first ones horizon seems to be not verticle, but it could be the way im sittin in my chair.... Well Done!

I will try to make the horizon verticle for you another day! To be honest in my view ruler straight horizons are not all that important for this kind of shot.

Thanks all for input/opinions.

heath,

I just love the second one.

beautifully framed and exposed.
with those colours it would look great up on the wall.

As long as the virtual horizon is horizontal that'd be better than a vertical horizon. :D

To be honest in my view ruler straight horizons are not all that important for this kind of shot.

It's in the eye of the beholder and all that, but to me the image _feels_ subtly wrong (why isn't the water flowing to the right?) and I think that fixing the tilt will make it a lot more pleasing on a subconscious level.

Everything else about it is great, and the surfer's in just the right spot for the 2nd one.

I love the 1st shot. Well done. I do think the horizon needs a straighten.

I'm not sure about the second. The colours just don't seen natural to me. Looks like its been over photoshopped.

In that case they're both amazing images despite the unnatural appearance. :)

Yeah they really dont look normal do they? Photoshopping for this one was darkening it, which can increase saturation... BUT I must stress the colours were very unnatural this particular morning.
