Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. first attemp at makeshift studiohad to do an exercise in lighting for photography in media today, so went in to the dark room and pinned up some black cloth to the wall and just used one incandescent lamp, which is all i really had, to show how moving the light can change the feel and mood of the same subject. these three are what i used. i think they turned out alright.

The first and the third of these are, for me, the best, but I think you need to work on the PP to bring out some more shadow detail.
On the second, look closely at your shadows: these are somewhat harsh and more attention needs to be paid in order to soften the lighting. Also, please take a moment to review the FAQ: the maximum size of any one side for images posted here should be greater than 800 pixels; your smaller side exceeds this, and that may make viewing difficule for members who don'thave larger monitors. Also please review the filesizes and while making the images smaller will help address that issue, you should always kmonitor those aspects of your postings. These images are not exactly friendly for thosemembers on dialup, and your cooperation is appreciated. g.

I think if you increased the contrast in the first image it would improve it at the moment it seems to be too grey. That's just my opinion though.
Cheers, Owen.

i did increase the contrast in the first, one, maybe i should increase it a little more. thanks for the tips. Nathan

Well I think you certainly achieved the point of the exercise.
