Crazy Afternoon WeatherThe second time we have had great clouds and an afternoon rainbow, this one is obviously distorted but I thought I'd share the combination of crazy clouds, rainbow and afternoon light.

Looks right out from a sci-fi movie! Great capture!
What lens? Nikon D200 | Nikkor AF-S 18-70mm DX | Sigma 15-30mm EX DG | Nikkor AF Micro 105mm 2.8 D | Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8D | Nikon Speedlight SB-800
10-20 Sigma A similar thing happened last week, but I was so busy admiring it that my shutter speed was too slow, this time I paid more attention and bumped the ISO when I needed it. Every afternoon the lighting and weather are different out there its great fun to photograph!
Armageddon !!! This is awesome mate. Well captured...I'd go as far and say one of your best ever posted here. Take Matts advice and print....
Awsome shot Craig.
You caught it perfectly. Was a weird storm, brown clouds, then grey clouds, then dark clouds, then very heavy rain..... I was lazy and sat at my desk, with my camera within arms reach, thinking that would make a great shot. Glad you did it. What does that button do....??
I was walking about in that. Fortunately the rain held off (mostly)

Craig, this is a masterpiece! Congratulations, I love it! Magical colours and reflections to boot! Well done, frame it!
amazing colours in the sky.
Well done. the moment a 20kiloton airburst went off over sydney. Steve check out my image gallery @

Marty they are actually birds, they were flocking around seemly upset by the change in weather, in a few of the other shots they are closer and a little clearer.
What a weather shot! Awesome stuff ... I think bom would have a place for that photo in their calendar!
Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
Actually Craig, look again. I know the black things are birds, but there are definately some bunnies in there. Look I am pointing my finger at them now, can you see..?? ![]() Try half way between the birds and the right edge of the image. Try between the birds and the top of the buildings below them. There are a few other ones in there but too hard to describe where. Don't worry, I checked quality of images in a studio, so my eyes are magically attracted to bunnies..... What does that button do....??
I know how it feels.
My new body has so many on the sensor. I would estimate 10 to 15 small ones, plus a few larger ones. I found out the hard way, on my first shoot of around 1800 images, I realised when I got home and started to pp them. I recall swearing and shouting rather a lot. ![]() And the blower just aint moving them. I am trying to get it into Canon for a free clean. Marty What does that button do....??
That beats my storm shots from today.
All I had was the 45mm as I was waiting for our play rehearsal to begin. But great work Craig! ![]() Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Excellent Craig, but I'd like to see a less distorted version. Maybe try putting it through DxO Optics which has support for Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM which I assume is the lens you used. You can get a demo from their web site http://www.dxo.com

Absolutely fabulous Craig!!
I think the distortion looks OK as it is. Although it may be better without it. ![]()
An excellent shot Craig.
You have been doing some really good stuff lately. Cheers John D3, D300, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.4, 80-400VR, 18-200VR, 105/2.8 VR macro, Sigma 150/2.8 macro

(Um, well thanks for the all the comments, I'm quiet suprised as I thought the shot was fairly boring and almost didn't post it).
I've taken Stubbsy's advice and I've attempted two Defishes (one I fiddled with a little the other it was on full auto). ![]() ![]() Apologises for the dust bunnies yes they are still there.
Craig, once again, awesome shot.
![]() In your two latest versions, I prefer the dark sky of the first, but quite like the water and buildings in the second, which seem a bit lighter. Overfall #1 wins though. Edit: And I agree, this is POTW material Cheers,

Craig sent me his NEF to play with in DxO. WHile DxO Optics allows fisheye correction for the Sigma 10-20 the results weren't terribly dramatic. So I also did a partial perspective correction in Photoshop. Here's a small example of what perspective correction can do with an image like this.
Craig - this is a big liberty I've taken with your image, and I feel a little guilty hence the smaller than normal embedded image. Just say so and the post is gone. ![]() Peter

Craig,
One of the best shots I have ever seen you post. Judging by the number of replies, the members love it too. Sure its distorted but it has that "War of the Worlds" feel to it and quite surreal in its feel and colour. Yep, I agree that it has to be framed. Cheers Michael
Craig,
I can't add any more superlatives over what has already been said. I would also be printing this big and hanging it on my wall. Not sure if I prefer the adjusted image. I think the perspective distortion adds to the overall surreal mood. Canon EOS 350D Tamron 18-200mm
Just what do you think you're doing Dave?
