Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Visage x 4Not my normal type of shot. I think one of these is great and one is very much not. Two are average. I'll let you be the judge. These were taken of some fellow forum members during our Watsons Bay & South Head micro meet.

Craig is a great shot Peter. Really bold - the subject looks great, the lighting is nice and even.
The one of Leigh looks like you've dodged his face too much - there appears to be a halo around him. Looks artificial. Kirs and Patrick seem just a little soft to my eye. Matt
I was eating a chip at the time!
![]() ![]() Leigh seems to be glowing somewhat, especially around his right cheek and ear. The shot of Craig is great though - far and away the pick of the bunch. So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all!
I've been meaning to comment on some of your threads for a while Peter, so it might as well be this one... As you may have gathered, I've been busy, so haven't had much time / energy to comment on images...
I've been meaning to say however that you've improved enormously in the last few months - and not just due to the D2x ![]() #1 - Leigh's portrait looks a little over processed (unless that's his natural halo). #2 - Kris's portrait seems to have captured her spirit - although I still prefer her self-portrait ![]() #3 - Patrick - one word.... Timing!!! ![]() #4 - Craig - Definitely the strongest of the set... The catchlight in his left eye makes it... Doesn't he look hunky!!! Cheers, John

Well I'll fess up - Craig's shot is the one I much prefer - seems we're all in agreement on that. Leigh's is the one I like least. It was very dark and near impossible to PP. My attempts have obviously failed.
All of them have been slightly softened with eyes, eyebrows & lips masked (ie not softened) which is how I tend to do portraits. Regarding your comment John. I agree that my work has improved of late - probably over the last 6 months. Not sure exactly why, but one thing I know for sure, the feedback and assistance from the people here has been a big factor. Peter
