Coffee Break

this photo was taken for a competition, 48hr time frame, straight out of camera shot... it had to be taken in jpg mode and you were only allowed to resize and save for web.
So no cropping, white balance adjustment, no levels, no sharpening... no nothing
shot was taken in my home made light tent

Image

now that I look at it, the biscuits look out of place.... not sure if they are too out of focus or that there is no detail in the cloth they are sitting on and that makes it look like the floating in space

the inspiration for this came from Steve's "black coffee" post http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18809
so off down to BigW to get a white cup and saucer and while I was there I decided the shot needed a focal point so picked up some lipstick and that got me a smartarse comment from the checkout chick :)

The lipstick makes a great focal point. I see what you mean about the buscuits. Did you try them on the saucer?

Just out of interest - Do you have a photo of your light tent?

Hi Keith,

looks pretty nice to me, even with the biscuits "floating" in space. You are getting some good use out of that light tent.

The picture I really want to see is you wearing that lipstick

thanks for sharing,

André

Great image Keith. Personally, I didn't find the biscuits a distraction.

Bwahaha, I can just picture you at the checkout - "it's for a photo of a coffee cup, honestly!" :P
