hey guys,
went and saw my mates band play in a battle of the bands competiton last weekend. i said that i would take pictures of the band for him. i think they turned out pretty well, well better than my first attempt at band photography anyway. i tried to make them look as interesting and action filled as possible.
let me know that you think, C&C more than welcome.

haha absolutely spot on!
thanks, i had a play around at home in my room with just a red spot light on my guitar, as thats the worst lighting scenario, and played around with different settings until i got a good combination. i think it works well because you still get the light trails, but dont get a blurry image

Three great shots Nathan . I love the effect in the last shot . Is that done by just hand holding a flash and firing off a couple of times with the long shutter speed ? ( I don't get the rear sync bit ? )

nah i just used the camera's onboard flash set to rear on the lcd display, and with long exposures the flash goes off once at the start of the exposure and then repeats at the end of the end of the exposure. so in the time between being lit up by the flash he had changed positions giving the cool effect, mind you, the last shot was a one off fluke

i tried a couple out in black and white, but found that they didnt have quite the same impact. thanks for the input though, very much appraciated.

You have created a great sense of movement in all the images and your treatment has lent itself well to the creation of the appropriate mood for this type of subject, even the colour cast has added to the overall quality of the images. I really like the overall feel of #1 the best.
