The colour contrast makes this image work for me, but I wonder if composition could be improved. The colour of the sea is that lovely aquamarine contrasted with the kayak. How would you have gone about improving it, if you were to take it again? Crop tighter, position the kayak more centrally?

Yes, you are right about the composition.
It is me in the kayak, and this is the last image in a series of shots taken by my wife as I rounded a headland. I picked this one because the water colour seemed to come up the best. Cheers Gecko Nikon D70, SB600, Benbo Trekker, LSII, KingPano and a lot to learn!
I know that feeling.

True
I was only thinking last night that I now feel OK with most the functions of my D70 - it has only taken me 12 + months (mind you I don't take many shots per week). Trying to summarize what the camera can do in a short time is difficult. I collegue at work has been considering buying a DSLR and I showed him my D70 - I'm afraid I must have sounded like a techno weiner and I prattled on and on about all the great features..... ![]() Gecko Nikon D70, SB600, Benbo Trekker, LSII, KingPano and a lot to learn!
