Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Well, apparently there is more in Melbourne than just the cricket at the 'Gee.
These are some shots taken on New Years day around Parliament House & the Museum.
I am not 100% happy with the masking attempts to get more detail in the sky, but still playing.
C&C welcome
I have deliberately blown the sky in this one...
This one shows undisciplined use of the lasoo tool in PS...(oh, and who says dust bunnies can't fly? )
Cheers
P
(PS. I have become a big fan of B&W during our trip to Melbourne, so much so that I bought some 3200 ISO B&W Ilford film to play with high grain!)

I love the 3rd shot; the high "contrast" works great

Thanks for the feedback - I was happy with the initial shot, but thought it lacked punch. I must say the architecture in Melbourne is generally more photogenic than Sydney's, apart from our key buildings and structures (SOH & Harbour Bridge).

Did you get any of the picture-grotesque yarra?
I like them, possibly clone out the telstra and other tall building over the royal exhibition building courtyard?
Looks like the melbourne museum entrance is a good place to take my fisheye

Thanks guys. Oz - good idea about cloning out the other buildings.
We got up early on Saturday and walked along the track from Fed Square almost to the MCG. However, all the photos I took were on the f90x. My wife was using the D200.
Wayne, we had a great stay in Melbourne - we like the city more and more each time we go there (especially drooling at Camera Lane & Camera Exchange!).

Camera Exchange was remodelled a couple of years ago, and now isn't half as good as it used to be.

Patrick
Love #3 - the strong blacks and whites really make this shot and emphasise the strong lines in the awning exceptionally well.
