or at least it is when you mix designer boutiques with teenage daughters!

Thanks Glen for putting us on to this beautiful old building. I may change my mind when the credit card statement arrives...

Beautiful shot, Simon!

I don't recall you having a tripod - was this hand-held?

Nice shot!

You've captured the magnificence of QVB well here. The exposure is spot on too, with the saturation just right.

You're right Kris - my pathetic little tripod was still in the hotel room. I was propped up against a post for this shot.

Thanks for the comments Daniel. I'm pretty happy with it too. It's a magnificent interior.

Cheers Glen - I'm sure it will. Eventually...

It sure is a lovely interior and you have captured it well.
Security will not allow tripods or monopods in the QVB so just as well you left it at home
Did you make it to the Strand Arcade?. Not as big as the QVB but has also been restored and has a lot of old world charm.

Not this trip Ray. Next time maybe! Thanks for the tip about 'pods in the QVB. I'm sure lots of others have been caught out in the past.

Thanks Colin and Steve - pleased you like it.

Great image there :D

I find this tad bit overexposed being for an old building interior, lacks a bit of mysterious facts around :P

Love it to bits. Have you got a link to a larger image? I want to look at in a bit more detail.

YiP - I raised the exposure slightly to see more into the shadow areas but not by much. As you'd know, there's a lot of natural light that floods in through the skylights.

Matt - you dag!! :)

Blink - sorry, I'm limited on how much I can upload so this is about as good as I can do. If you want, you can PM me your email address and I could shoot a bigger version off to you that way.

Simon,

For handheld, you've done extremely well. Great sharpness in, for instance, the clock, but obvious subject movement (and longer exposure time evident) in the shoppers. This all shows great handholding technique to me.

Colours look great as well, with a very even exposure range captured in this image.

The Strand would make a most interesting challenge - it doesn;t have the same natural light coming in, but enjoys a wonderful ambience and old world charm, which I think the QVB has lost through its redevelopment.

Awesome for handheld, very nicely down, ever been in the army as perhaps a sniper ? :P Love the shot, and I hope the credit card statement isn't too shocking!
