Took a shot this afternoon of this little guy/gal. It was very small (about 2-3mm), and not too timid.. Not as sharp as I would have liked but there is a bit of a breeze here at the moment.
Critique appreciated...

cheers

Dolichopodid FlyHi all,
Took a shot this afternoon of this little guy/gal. It was very small (about 2-3mm), and not too timid.. Not as sharp as I would have liked but there is a bit of a breeze here at the moment. Critique appreciated... ![]() cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Excellent macro of a beautiful insect there. Very nice colors.
What lens did you use? Also, how was the SB800 used, if at all. Would love to see more macros from your side! Keep them coming. Cheers, Kamran Nikon D200 | Nikkor AF-S 18-70mm DX | Sigma 15-30mm EX DG | Nikkor AF Micro 105mm 2.8 D | Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8D | Nikon Speedlight SB-800
Hi kamran and thanks...
used the tamron 90mm in manual mode.. handheld 1/160 @ f22. the sb800 was direct flash without diffuser stopped down -1. I'm sure you'll see more as it's only day 3 of me doing macro... so i'm hooked at the moment ![]() ![]() cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.

Hey there Xerubus... out of interest, with that lens, how much working distance do you have to play with? I'm assuming that the tamron 90 must give you plenty as the macro the I have played with so far (either 50mm with tubes or 300mm with diopter) gives very little which would only spook subjects like this.
Mj. Photography is not a crime, but perhaps my abuse of artistic license is?
mj.. the lens give pretty good working distance, but I try and get as close to the subject as possible.
cheers Alpha_7, and yes.. i'm having a ball ![]() cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
