While I agree that the images may be a little on the soft side with regard to focus Poley my friend, you might try to exercise a little courtesy on this forum and make your comments a bit more constructive, don't you think? I would be moving rapidly myself in a situation like this grab it fIrst and try to perfect it when you can .Best wishes to you anyway.

Well for starters I wouldn't even attempt to put up any image that was out of focus or wasn't up to any basic photographic standard on any forum for people to view, without make comments on.

You can critique and hate it till the cows come home... I don't seriously care.

My photographic standard basically says that if I like the image, in focus, out of focus, artistically merited, gory, sick, unusual... whatever... it says that if I like the image, it'll be apart of my photographic standard and I'll be damned if I care what yours is.

My standard is likely to differ greatly from yours, what with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and all. I'm not a sports photographer. I don't claim to be one. I am a photographer, but that doesn't mean that an image I shoot or anyone else for that matter has to apply to your idea of a "basic photographic standard", whatever you think that may be.

This thread should not degenerate into a flame match, there are no winners there. To explain my comment further for your understanding, I meant that if I caught an action shot happening, I would grab the shot first without fiddling with speed, aperture, etc. and then maybe set the camera for optimum results and hope it happened again to improve on the original. The images are interesting if not exhibition quality. That is enough.

As a Newbie here (as with any group), you should perhaps get to know the folks here and the "rules" of etiquette before you say too much. Don't judge lest you too shall be judged.

My business has been around along time before I even entered this forum and has developed a professional reputation based on my work ethics and work so I dont really need to rely on this one sided forum for business and wont.

As for "you should perhaps get to know the folks here and the "rules" of etiquette before you say too much. Don't judge lest you too shall be judged."

Maybe the rest of those in the forum on this topic that wish to comment they should practice what they preach as not long ago I had people making rude comments made about myself before I had even joined this forum and again they didnt know me at all, like I didnt know them at all.

Maybe they should take the time to meet me personally, come and have a photo shoot or work with me and see what I am like. I am sure they will change there minds like other professional collegues have with wanting to work with me, help each other out and vice versa.

Maybe you should go and have a look at other forum topics and see what I said about them and how I though the displayed images were good.

And I'm not into any childish slanging matches either, I am just being straight to the point and honest and if people don't like that then they should build a bridge and get over it.

Which suggests to me that you're missing the point of this thread entirely.

While the post is certainly in the image reviews section, what I believe we're seeing here is a series of images, meant to be viewed as that series, in toto.

Within that context, it is perfectly acceptable to post images that may show issues such as you're suggesting these have. We see them in the national and international press all the time.

Further: look at the crappy quality of many paparrazzi shots of so-called celebreties that earn megabuck for the photographers who manage to shoot them. Out of focus, poorly exposed.

And one shot earns the 'tog more money than most people might earn in a year.

Actually, no.

The original comments were on your photograqphy, just as your comments were on Leigh's photography.

Comments on images are perfectly acceptable, but attacks on members here are not.

So please, ensure that your comments are wholly directed towards the images, and if you're criticising, please do so in from a positive point of view. If you something constructive to say, then great, say it.

If you're just going to put people or their images down, then please desist.
