#1 - love the pose but finding the focal point is hard, just a little too soft #2 - Lighthouse Beach - this shot is spot on and is even more impressive with the moon in shot - love it #3 - What a brilliant pose of the two felines. This shot is spoilt somewhat by the intrusive bamboo(?) but I still like it Sigma rocks Chris

First pic was taken @ F2.8 the focus is on the bird standing up (not bent over) so the bent over one is just in front of the focus but then blends out again so i guess i will have to use a smaller F-stop next time like F4 or 5.6
originally i didnt like the bamboo in the tiger picture but its growning on me, to me it gives a sense of depth Cheers
I am loving #2, great shot.
For 1 and 3, I would strongly recommend using f/5.6, that is where this lens shines in terms of sharpness, those two are still good but just slightly off in the sharpness department. It is a hard situation in #1 because the blur there is motion blur, not focus blur. Are you using continuous AF(AI Servo in "Canon Speak")? If you are, turn it off and put it on single area AF (One Shot in "Canon Speak"). Harry Nikon D80, MB-D80, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8, SB-800, Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3

Birds pic i agree, was taken @ 1/80 F2.8 so could have been quick using iso 200 or even 400.
with the tigers it was 1/60 F2.8 @ 200mm iso400. i hate using anything higher than iso400, it gets abit too grainy for my liking
Love the second and third ones. Where abouts was #2 taken?
As other have said, the first is a little soft...but i suspect its from the 1/80 shutter speed.
The lighthouse atop Lighthouse Beach Port MacQuarie - a great spot Chris

Unfortunately not, but I do visit friends there whenever I can and spend each christmas in Port. I have considered moving there as I really like the place. Chris

Chazman,
Please take a few moments to review our FAQ, and in particular, please pay attention to your image sizes when posting. While the file sizes here are fine, 800px is, as a general rule, is the LONGEST dimension of either the height and/or the width that your images should have. You need to consider that many members view this site in lower resolution modes, and 1000 px is just too wide. Thanx in advance for your cooperation. g.

i use a canon 400d but not to say i am a canon man, i had a D70 before, i am kinda the outcast in the family, my dad and brother both use nikon, i love the 70-200 macro, i wouldnt get the standard 70-200 though, the macro version has better glass elements in it. and is much sharper. the only thing i wish for is abit more focal length but very rarely, its awesome for indoors and under hard light conditions.
the tiger shot was good being able to use the 2.8 at only 400iso where as my brother had to use iso 1600 because his was 5.6 and the results of mine were alot more satisfactory and @ 2.8 it blurred alot of the zoo background out so it looked nicer.
