(Very) Belated Oran Park Shots.

As I now have broadband again, I have been uploading shots from a few rounds of racing I've attended.

These shots from are from Oran Park.

C&C asked for, welcomed and appreciated.

Apologies for the black borders, the images are used elsewhere also.

Hi Alan, good shots mate and i am getting to be jealous as i have not been to any motorsport events lately not even my Moto GP this year as work and leaving it too late to get organised but maybe next year so good to see some action with these pics.

#1-Awesome, action packed! Too much foreground though I think, I'd like to see the cars more central. Maybe give it a kick of contrast too?

#2-I see this sort of image published all the time in major motorsport publications and general media; I can never understand why. It just seems like blurry rubbish to me. But if people are happy to publish it...

#3-Great! To be critical the bonnet is a bit blown, might need a bump of contrast, and shame about the DJR car but not much you can do. Well panned, and great flame.

Edit: jeez I seem critical... Hmm, don't take these the wrong way Alan, I reckon #1 and #3 are great images, in fact I'm sure they're all publishable. The comments are what I'd say about my own images (and I tend to be rather a perfectionist about my photos), so these may be unduly harsh.

Great work as always Alan.

1 - Agree more contrast needed in this shot, other than that I think it works well, the amount of foreground balances the amount of track behind the cars.

2 - Nicely saturated and contrasty but I think this needs a little more point of reference. It just seems to be missing something, perhaps it is because it is a Holden all on its own

3 - Superb! This is racing! Love the angle, the closeness the feel of speed, the colour the contrast! Well done Alan.

Trent, no your comments aren't harsh. I guess the appeal of #2 is it has an artsy feel to it. I have been reliably informed that CAMS likes to see these exact types of images in photographer applications. I like them also, it is harder to get this type of image with a single in focus area than panning. Maybe it's the challenge?

I have purposely left in the foreground in #1 to use DOF, the track and marbles are OOF, as is the car behind, which gives a feeling of depth. Well, I think so anyway... I may be speaking out my bum.

Agree with you Brett and Trent about getting more contrast in #1 and #3, can't believe I need more contrast....

BBJ, yes, get trackside asap!!! Your posts have been missed.

Michael, you can put your Canon where it's high ISO would be useful...

Cheers Bill, the black borders are because I also have the watermarked and PPed for sending them to various folks for possible use, that way they can't really use them for anything other than looking at.
