First of all, great lighting in all of them. The fourth is maybe - maybe - a tad hot on the face. Maybe.

The first is basically great: good eye contact, something is happening, the story is being told. Perhaps a tad oversharpened though: look at her fingers around the shaker.

I'd like to see her doing something other than standing there in the second; it looks static compared with the others.

Except the third; this one doesn't grab me either, but I can't say why.

The fourth is great as well; great expression, overly contrived, but that's not a problem in this shot. :)

They are very good, although the colour of the cocktail is unfortunate.

Numbers 1 and 4 are my favourites.

#1 and #4 are great! They look like they could be on magazines!

But I'm not too keen on #2 and #3, can't really place my finger on it though. :S

Thanks everyone. These shots are basically just a pre-shoot shoot :D I had to do some staff photos for websites and while i was doing them i got a few shots of a setup I'm going to be doing tomorrow night. The problem Friday was that it was in the afternoon and they have massive windows that let the light through. It's really harsh and i wanted to get the bottles in the background lit up properly. I'm doing a night shoot tomorrow at around 10 ish so hopefully the results are a bit better.

Gary i didn't really see much around the fingers. I assume you mean some halo-ing? I took back the sharpening a little though and think it's a bit better.

Thanks for the comments so far though! Keep em coming!

#1 and #4 for me.

Does Jerry Seinfeld go there often?

I agree with the others that the best are 1 and 4. Do you have the first one with the girl looking at the glass? Yes the color of the cocktail needs to be more exciting... :)

Do you mind sharing the lighting setup for this shot? I am guessing softbox left high and another light with a yellow filter background lighting the bottles?

I do have the first with her looking at the glass, but for the purpose of the website i think the one above is going to be better. I am doing the proper shoot tonight (hopefully! she hasn't emailed me back a time yet!) and will take everyone's suggestions on board. I do think another colour for the cocktail will be much better too. I have more lights for the bottles, which i intend to light from the bottom, with different coloured lights.

The setup for the shots was a light above and camera left with a softbox, and above and camera right with a brollie, but that was used just for a bit of fill, nothing much else. Then you're spot on with the background light. It just had gels and some barndoors pointing at the bottles. I used a few different setups, but room was really tight and this turned out to look much better than some of the other setups.

I'm guessing that's a comment about the guy in #4? He's a bit of a character that's for sure. He pretty much did a bunch of poses without really even having to talk to him about it. I just got a call saying the shoot is on for tonight with 6 staff instead of the 3 i had last time! Sweet. This should be fun!

I'll post some more when i get finished. I have two pretty big shoots this arvo and tonight so it's going to be a long night!

Yep, exactly. You were right on the edge, I felt.

Have fun tonight. :)
