These are excellent Mic! Just remember, tho, if you run out of pills, don't eat the fungi! Love the colours of the first, and the detail in the second....very nice! Keep up the 'normal' stuff......I'm really enjoying it!

Mic - the first shot is great and yes it is poisonous. The red colour is a warning sign.

I like #1.
Its an Amanita Muscaria or fly agaric mushroom.
It is not poisonous but definitely hallucinogenic. It can give you an upset tummy though.
The Vikings use to munch down on them before berserking. Mycologically they are very different to classic magic mushrooms i.e. the psilocybes.

Nice work Mic...
Given the subject for #1, I thought that the second one might have been a truffle (until I read the caption)...

Thanks dhess - I actually knew that but I suppose the father in me kicked in and rather than say it was a drug, just decided to label it poisonous.
Historical note: A law passed in 1123 A.D. made berserking illegal and you could have got several years in jail for it - I am now going off to be beserk

Actually they can slow your heart and kill you, and technically it is a poison.

Mic. Keep of the pills. Your latest macro micro mic stuff is great.
Here's something odd about this post (other than mic, that is ). dhess and Finno both appear to be mushroom experts and I know both of you are marine aquarium nuts. I have to say that's weirding me out since there is no obvious connection between two such disparate areas of knowledge

Nice work too Mic, now, how do you take these shots? I would like to learn how to do good macros (having a macro lens I suppose is a good start!). The old P&S cameras were a cinch to use, my old Sony 707 could literally touch the subject and still be sharply focussed, but with SLR it's a different story.
Great shots by the way, Max

Thanks Guys & Gal
dhess, hallucinogenic I might get me some mushy to chomp on while I'm sipping a red, popping a red pill while PSing
Thanks for the info, very informative Information
Max, keep your F stops around 16 / 32 etc for sharpness, remote SB 800 and experiment with different angles & positions of light.
Just experiment, I'm not a good Macro head yet, it's a lot of trial & error.
Thanks to all for all your comments and general support for my weirdness,
Pill P pping , drinking, and now hallucinogenic mushy's
