This building has some stairs still in place. You can get up to the floor where the large opening is.

Went to Bowral for the weekend. Before I went looked on the net for any interesting photo op.

Found this place, the malting at Mittagong. It closed in 1980's there is another building on the other side of the creek behind me and to the right. All the internal stairs have be removed and the building inside partly demolished. There were originally three building, all three over time caught fire now only two remain.

Have you ever sent grey market Nikon camera/lens to be repaired by any non Nikon service centers?

I know the disadvantages of having/buying a grey market Nikon lens/camera. Nikon doesn't offer any repairs or technical support. My question: DOES Nikon supply parts to non-Nikon authorized repair centers? I have heard that lot of grey market Nikon owners use nikoncamerarepair.com for repair. Have you used them? nikoncamerarepair.com does repair grey market lenses but I am wondering whether Nikon supplies them the required original Nikon parts?

The image of the Virgin of the Aurora (Our Lady of the Dawn) is the last paso (float of sculptures representing events of the Passion) of the Holy Week in Seville. In this representation the Holy Mother has no tears as She knows Jesus is risen and there is hope.

My previous design of a small home-made softbox for my SB800 flash was quite crude (basically a cut-up Weet-bix box) and it is looking a little worse for wear so I decided to make my own small DIY beauty dish.

I found a square 25cm plastic bowl from the Reject shop ($2.50 for a pack of 2) and I already had some spare pieces of mount board handy which would become the rear section of the beauty dish, using the same "slip-on" method from my previous design.

Along with some tape, a glue stick and some aluminium foil I created this:

I decided to break out the SB800 and home-made softbox again this afternoon but wanted to use something other than the 50 1.8, so I grabbed my Sigma 70-300 and put it into macro-mode , then off I went into the back yard.
Unfortunately it was a little windy and coupled with using manual focus (and shooting hand-held), provided me with quite a challenge. This lens isn't super sharp but I had fun and the images came out OK.

Here's a few from my backyard adventures.
All were shot using the SB800 as key light, triggered by in-built flash in comman ...

I made these a few weeks ago. They are now firmly installed in our front yard. OK, the letterboxes themselves came from Bunnings, but the rest of the design is mine. Well, almost. Actually, I just dug the hole and concreted them in, but I have to take credit for something...
