If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man. ~ Mark Twain

View of a Spanish village (Campo de Criptana). I decided to add some filters to make it look a bit like a painting.

Well I haven't the actual photographs to share yet, but my husband tonight decided he liked the colours in the sky and asked me for my camera to go take some photos. So when I get it back I will check out his work and post a few of his first time efforts. Im impressed he wanted to go out and figure everything out..... I did have a phone call which I then gave him some simple directions how to adjust the ISO on the xt1. So here's looking forward to some newbies photos.... who knows he might create his own DSLR account himself! lol

I am out west this weekend. The weather is pristine. Cold nights. Zero breeze. No full moon. Last Thursday night's efforts at capturing the Milky Way weren't great, so I tried again tonight. I thought at one stage I saw Elvis abducted by aliens, but I may have been mistaken. In any case, I'm pretty sure there was a UFO up there somewhere as indicated by the light beam. Or maybe it was the Enterprise...

Further to this afternoon's other post, one of my 10 year old flash triggers is Cactus. Literally. Even though they're stored without batteries, it is completely corroded. IN any case, 10 years is a good time for something electronic, so I need to upgrade to a new set of triggers. Any suggestions (not Pocket Wizards) from the erstwhile photographic sages on DSLRusers?

Many thanks.

I needed to take a couple of business head shots last night, so I set up my studio lights etc. I haven't used them since selling my Canon 60D almost two years ago. I attached my 10 year old Cactus flash triggers (Version 1) to the Fuji X-T1 and then discovered that focusing with mirror free cameras can be problematic. Obviously there's no mirror to look through and compose, just a dark screen.

Here was my workaround: I set the ISO at Auto/6400 and auto focus mode. After acquiring focus, I switched back to manual focus and then to ISO 200. It ...
