Having a couple of weeks off, had to go to Melbourne last week. So went down via Wilsons prom. Got there and it was raining and the next morning as well but cleared up mid morning but was very windy and overcast.

The "pinecone" (SAHMRI Building), as it is called, is Adelaide’s South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute and next to it they are building the new hospital. This building will be significant for its contribution to sustainable design and architectural design in Australia. Personally, I think it looks more like a cheese grater.

I wonder if this thread might be handy? Here's a few tips I have found over the years. (Matt gave a good one today concerning photographing the whites of the eyes, here: http://dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44630&start=457592#p457592

Here's a few post processing tips:

Photoshop CC: With a jpg open, hit Shift-Command-A and the image opens in Camera Raw. The image DOESN'T have to have been shot in raw, which is useful for us Fuji jpg shooters.

Photoshop CC: To smooth skin under the eyes, us ...

I'm not sure how I got this thing so cheaply as it's gone way up in price again, but I'm not complaining. It really is a nice portrait lens, and at $300, was a bargain.

The missus, F3.6, ISO 2000.

I guess it would do the job but I think it might be a tad of overkill!
Seriously, my vegie garden is over producing so I got this little baby to preserve, "can" the excess produce. It works like a dream!

I went to check my old D30 and I decided to change the lens for the Canon 17-55 and to my surprise my fingers got sticky on the focusing rubber ring. The pattern of the ring was clearly left in my hand and fingers. I had the camera in a bag inside an air tight plastic container. Anybody has any idea why after a few years the rubber began to disintegrate and can it be easily fixed?

Our eldest son has been teaching our two eldest grandsons about Remembrance Day, and the importance of remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Last evening we were returning home from a function at the RSL club and stopped by the memorial. I didn't pose the boys, they just stopped and thought for a while, looking at the freshly laid wreaths from the previous day's Remembrance service.
