It was raining this morning on the NSW central coast, so when it cleared up this afternoon, we took a short drive down to Norah head lighthouse, near Toukley.

who woulda thought the 1 series would make me a nikon fanboy all over again ? lol

i bought a v3 as an impulse buy from teds about a month ago. i had intended on waiting until it dropped in price but due to the lacklustre appeal of the 1 series in australia, some places are already discounting them. i bought it for $799 with the new PZ kit lens and the 10mm/2.8. then added the VF for $309 i just sold the nikon V1 with the original kit lens and the 10/2.8, (cos i already have one), for $325 so the v3, VF and little PZ lens set me back $785. not ...

I am keen for some thoughts on this image - processing wise, it was shot for the specific purpose of converting to monochrome, so colour is not an option, compositionally I wanted a simple landscape, there is plenty of room to move and crop in this frame since it's a about 10 vertical frames stitched together.

Possibly cropping from the right to remove some of the negative space which seems not to be used due to the inclusion of the roos on the left?

Thank you for the kind words and thoughts after I advised of my mother's illness.

Mum died last week after a courageous battle against cancer. She died surrounded by family and was able to tell each of us how much she loved us before she passed.
They were moments that were painful and sad but also beautiful.

She raised five kids on the smell of an oily rag and we are all forever grateful for her love and guidance. We are going to miss her terribly.

Here she is on her wedding day in 1948.

The Astro Photographer craves the night - and not just any night - they desire the lowest of low lights. They search out dark skies, requiring moonless cloudless evenings far away from cities and light pollution. Huddled alone in the dark with camera pointed up into the vastness of the universe seeking out those faint points of light in the skies

and if you look closely you can play spot Suren... :)
