I am a sucker for silhouettes and this is a good one.

my only nits though would be the darker section in the middle that does weaken the overall effect in my opinion.
Perhaps shooting from a lower angle, but then you lose the golden reflection.

lovely image.

Steve,

Can you elaborate on how you'd like this improved ? There is a lot of detail I decided to hide to get a simple silhouette, perhaps I can bring some of the detail back to improve it in your eyes ?

I love the silhouette
is very powerful at the top with his head/shoulders

and I love the bottom bit with the strong silhouette but just the middly scction particularly the rocks dont seem to help seeing the full person.

perhaps a little more gold on the water also
or if you could coax a little gold backlights on the edge of the loins like where there is a hind of it at the lower right where the water ends and the rock starts?

regardless this is a great shot, just wondering if more may be milked from it

This shot would have been ideal for HD layering to give definition in the middle section of the body which has become totally integrated with the land mass. Although I like the shot in principle, the disembodiment just appears to be unnatural :)

Excellent work, Craig. Its one of those images which is ambiguous in that studying it, I am unsure if it was taken with the person looking towards you or towards the sun.

Cheers

Great shot Craig - makes getting up at that the ungodly hour worthwhile. & I know what Shiela is saying - I've changed my mind a couple of times about which way he's facing :)

Did you use a orange filter by any chance to get that effect?

Thanks for all the comments, I'll try to answer a few questions...

Firstly the subject is a fellow DSLR user, can you guess who ?

He was facing the water, and wasn't eating a pie, infact I am pretty sure he was taking a photo.

Craig - Well worth getting up early, love the morning light, it at night shots are currently my favourite shooting conditions

Michael - No orange filters used, this was pretty much the colour I saw when shooting perhaps it was a little bit more yellow.

Finally, I'll try another PP'ed version with more detail in it, for those that are interested, I'd also like to point out, that I blew alittle of the sun out (dead centre to had to use PP to retrieve it) I was sure someone would notice or comment, but I'm happy to say no one did so my PP skills must be improving!
