Just a series of pics from Narrabeen pool.

Taken late at Fri night / early Sat morning - exposures in the order of 120-150s. 1st time I have tried talking bulb exposures. Most difficult thing was just trying to compose the picture as it was pretty bloody hard to see anything. So got a few crooked horizons.

All picutres have been pp'd.

I have also noticed some purple spots/areas on some of the longer exposures (top left hand corner) which became more evident with pp'ing. Anyone got any ideas of the cause ? Lens was tokina 12-24.

These have a very eerie feel to them. All are good, but #3 works best for me. In #2 I'd also do something about the tiny bit of path in the lower left corner.

Geof, i think these pics look cool. Well done for giving it a go and i would be happy with these so yeh i like them all o dont think there is anything i would change with these.

Antman, that's the CCD starting to heat up with the longer exposure. It's not harming the camera, and the recommended way to avoid it is to use the Long Exposure Noise Reduction (NR) feature. (p133 D70 users guide).

It works by processing a dark frame (ie sensor is activated for the same time as the original exposure, but the shutter isn't opened. The dark frame is then compared to the original and the noise subtracted). Essentially it will double your total time per frame.

There's a couple of threads on the forum about this from memory.

Thanks for that Daniel. Thought that it may have been that. Interesting to see it tend to occur in the top left hand side of the sensor.

I like 2 and 3 but all are well done. The moon adds for interesting lighting creating the eeriness, well done

If you hadn't had pointed out the hot noise in the upper left corner, I wouldn't have consciously noticed it. These are great shots. Very sublime feel to them.

amazing the tone and mood are just fantastic, almost looks liek a day shot at high shutterspeed but with the added spookness of the subtle star trails
images liek these make my heart boil

Great shots. I've heard that the purple glow can possibly be glow from the battery. Not sure though.
