![]() ![]() I do like the other shots, but the first has just captured the instant perfectly !! I almost want to think that the bee in the last shot is pissed on nectar, and is drunkenly making her way home - hence the blurr going sideways (honeshttt hofficer, I can fly straight if I really really really ..... ummmmm..... conshentrate ![]() Thank you for making an old duck happy ![]() Hugs Rel Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

Wow, mate... That first one is an absolute stunner! And #3 is another pearler!!!
These are bloody terrific, great detail, sharp as a tack and not commonly seen in macro stuff, composed beautifully... Strewth, that first one really is excellent... I was toying with the idea of getting a macro lens to "play with bugs" ![]() Aka Andrew
Love bee shots.
That first one is a keeper! Spot on. Did you use the SB 800? If so how did you difuse the light? I see a few dust bunnies in the last shot. Thanks for sharing them with us Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Great stuff Tim. You make a strong case for me adding a macro to the kit very soon. (Then I only have to learn how to drive it like you...)

G'day folks..
Mudder: I was probably hanging about 15-20cm off most of the shots.. id just set the focus manually, hold off the bee while its feeding and as its taking off, try and grab the shot.. i have got a couple more flying shots i might add them later if Gary doesnt shoot me for adding more then 4 pics Willy: I used the sb800, i just turned down the flash power 1 stop or 2.. depending on the background Loz: Thanks old man... Excellent shots Tim. #1 and #2 do it for me, they're just a bit sharper than #3 and #4. My guess is you've used f16 or smaller aperture going by the amount of the bee in focus, so you must have used flash. I too would be interested in what you did to stop harsh light bouncing straight back.
Andrew, a bit OT but I can vouch that the Sigma 150 is a great macro lens. Only trouble is I need to get mine rechipped to work with AF-ON on the d200, and Hong Kong is a long way away. ![]() Cheers John D3, D300, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.4, 80-400VR, 18-200VR, 105/2.8 VR macro, Sigma 150/2.8 macro

Wow those are excellent macros!! Simply perfect
![]() I love macros but still dont have any dedicated macro lens. Still on my reversing workarounds ![]()
Tim,
I really like #1 and #3 is good as well. I have to be honest and say that #2 don't do it for me. That is probably because I have an inbuilt bias against butt shots ![]() Steve

Superb Tim. I have seen the lens and it is now on the list of eventual purchases. (Why would you buy the Nikkor 105 at more than twice the price when you can get results like these?) They are all excellent.

All these images are very good. It takes a hell of a lot of patience and grit to achieve this standard of work and ill take my hat off to this kind of patience.
Well shot Jethro shoot it real.
look! and see. Shoot and feel
Steve: you dont like a bit of Butt??
Jethro, it just took 15mins of boredom.. i promised Rel that id take some pics for her on sunday, but it rained and my backyard looks like a swamp, so i picked up the camera today and grabbed some shots for her Thanks again for the comments folks.. much appreciated! Bindi, nothing is beyond your talents, especially these shots.. just takes time to sit patiently while the bee or insect is feeding and anticipate as they are going to take off.. and pressing the shutter button
