Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Peugeot that is.......
A couple of images from today while doing a photo shoot for my car club.
Does this work? I was playing around with the shadows and highlights and reduced the highlights to nothing and this is the result......i quite like the effect myself, what are your thoughts?

JAmie,
Both good, but on the second one, move in closer.

Jamie - I really like the first pic but as a challenge for you - try cloning out all of the reflections

That wouldn't happen to be Alex's pug would it?
I second Gary's comment about the 2nd one...not sure about removing the highlights and having such a mucked up ground tho (below the car)...looks too oatmeal-like.

Thanks people(s).
Gary - I have heaps of closer shots, just trying to get away from the 'normal' car type pictures by showing a little background as well.
LittleB - Thanks - i dont mind it myself.
Chris - are you trying to be funny! Clone out the reflections, mate i can only just do the basics in PS, shadow / highlights and sharpen! LOL I'll give ya 50c to do it for me.
Piro - Yes its Alex's pug, damn fine little machine it is too. Are you stalking me or something?
Given the comments so far i think ill tame the highlights back to 50% rather than the full 100% used in that image and see what it looks like then.

That wuld be well and good were this an interesting background - the Arts Centre, a nice park a coastline .....
While this background is certainly not distracting, we need to ask though, of what real merit is it?
Let's take a slightly different approach to my argument, and accept your statement that you wanted to show some background ... why this background? What does it offer that improves your shot?
Do we include the background simply for the sake of including the background, or does the background have a purpose and/or add something to the image?
Let me be the first to point out that I have no answers to those questions, and for all I know that background might have something that I'm not seeing. But they're questions that you should be critically asking yourself at the time that you're making the image, and the answers that you decide are appropriate are what should guide you in the making of your images.

In the first, my eye just hits the back wheel and gets drawn into the image with great lines and good angle or view... Love it...
In the second, too much background for me...
Great SHINY car pics...
