Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Shots taken from Collaroy Beach on Saturday afternoon.
This is the first time using PS CS2 "Save for the Web", the images don't look as sharp as normal PP.
75-300 IS with circular polorizer. Shots taken @ 300mm.
Q. When taking surf shots etc, should I always use the circular polorizer?

Hi Warwick
Nice action shots, they just seem a little flat. Hope you dont mind, I just had a quick play with one of your images to just add a little punch to the colours.
Maybe overdid the reds a bit but as I said it was just a quick play.

cc@t,
I don't mind you having a play. I was getting better colour ( although not quite as strong ) from RSE and then used PS to sharpen the image. It was just when I saved them using the web option in Photoshop it just changed the colours and made it a little soft..
Cheers.

Warwick, the general advice is to not use save for web. I think there's a sticky at the top of the Images section that talks about the best way to save and there's a whole lot of other posts about it. But the rule of thumb is not to use "Save for Web". Maybe do a search on "Save for Web".

Yes you do lose some detail when you use save for web, but I have to admit that I use it most of the time. As long as your originals stay nice and sharp thats the main thing. My normal workflow when I've taken surfing/windsurfing pics is - crop, saturation, contrast, sharpen and then save for web.
As far circ pol filter goes, I use mine 99% of the time if shooting water sports - I compare it to trying to look at the sea without sunnies on

cc@t,
That's what I thought about the circ pol filter, but I adjust it to be fairly minimal as I have found my colours to be too strong when in RSP ( almost over saturated ) and processing from RAW to tif.
I normally save in JPG, buy was having issues with Pixspot with uploading the images. I must be at my 100%MB allowance. So I tried " for the web ", but not impressed. I have found Photobucket.com to host these pictures on.
P.S. My RAW and processed tif's at home are fine, I only brought these web images with me to work today, hence the crap quality. I'm a little surprised that no one has commented that it's cause I use a Canon.
Cheers.
