Skateboarding once againVery hot last night out at Parramatta. Thought I'd share a couple of pictures with you. Both taken with the Sigma 10-20, Flash, f/4.5, 1/500, But I keep forgetting to up the ISO. So these are at 200.
welcome any comments... ![]() ![]() Enjoy, Bill
Great action shots again Bill. I love the way the 10-20 distorts the image and gives it a feeling of depth and enhances the action. You are certainly producing some great skateboarding images. Well done.
Steve.

I never thought that the horizon mattered much on shots like these. Maybe they do, but I never noticed it, and never read any of the pros talk about it. Maybe it's really basic.
Also, I've noticed that in a lot of mags that distortion is generally prevalent too, or am I dreaming?
I totally agree with Dooda. I've looked at a lot of skate pics and horizon and distrotion seem to be irrelevant. In fact distortion seems to be encouraged.

hoirzons are pretty much always level in skate mags (well at least thats what i've noticed in the 8 years i've been reading them). i only ever see crooked horizons in car/motorbike shots. barrel distortion is definately acceptable in skate mags as a majority of stills in skate mags are shot with hasselblad 30mm fisheyes but wideangle lenses are never used (except maybe panoramic shots with an xpan).
go to this site and search 'crooked' http://www.wheelsandwax.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl its an 'action' sports photogrpahy website. some really good pics and info found here with many pro photogs posting pics and critiquing other members pics. don't forget to sign up post your pics.
