Kurri Kurri with a WA - (dial-up warning)

Birddog asked for them , all taken with my new toy, the Tokina 12.24.

I was out at Kurri Kurri yesterday doing some work, yes I do work

While I was waiting for a large data set to get restored, I went around town taking some photos. Kurri Kurri is a nice quiet little town. One does not usually stop there, since it is on the way to the Hunter valley vineyards in Pokolbin.

Lately they have painted the side of buildings with large murals. They actually got some government grants to do it!!

One of the things that always struck me driving through there was the pubs, but now the murals do it.

These two were on the sides of a toilet block. The whole building was a big mural.

The Greta drive-in is not far from Kurri Kurri. A great place in the summer to catch some films. If you don't like the movie, they recommend you slash the seats!!!! Supposedly, the local car club paid some money if they wanted their period car painted on the mural.

The next two are my favourites. This one is on the side of a tyre shop.

There are plenty more in town, I took a few more, I'll have to go back and finish the "job".

Something a bit different, hope you enjoy, The 12-24WA really allowed me to get close and get rid of some of the distractions of some of the shots. Not much PP done on the photos, just a little of adjustment on the exposure and saturation.

Next time on your way to the vineyards in the Hunter have a break in Kurri Kurri, you'll enjoy it

Thanks for this. I drive straight through Kurri Kurri without a thought (except for the lovely old pubs). Next time I'm up that way I'll check these out. What street/s?

Very nice works from you! Great composition and perspective of the photos and it's a nice lens at the small price tag, it's better than the Sig 12-24 in my opinion of many aspect.

Lucky! you get paid while doing photography and getting some funs for yourself at work

Don't you know where Kurri Kurri is?
The winery trip on the 4 & 5 Feb. is may be worth to do it on the 5th instead of going to the Hunter Gardens and it's free (Hunter Gardens with admission fees )

It was fun walking around the town taking the photos. Worth a stopover on the Feb Hunter valley weekend.

Peter, if you turn on Lang St, you will find a number of these. That's at the round about on top of the hill with the big pub. It's got a nice mural on there too, but I couldn't get a good perspective for it. Probably need to do it with a telephoto or bring a ladder

The Tokina 12-24 is a very nice lens. I certainly am impressed as to how sharp it is. Hope to do a few more landscapes over the weekend, maybe sunrise if I get up early enough.

Yes Andre well worth the walk. I agree with Chris the lens certainly does render vivid colours. How close to the real thing do they look. I think you shoould be well happy with these images and your new toy. A great idea too by the Kurri Kurri community

Colours are actually very close to the real thing, didn't have to do very much PP work on them.
