NZ Tui and a Trout
Bit of work still to do on these, but I had to share them now

Fish is so so, but the bird is a great capture. What is the white thing on its neck? Peter

Part of his male plumage - gives them their nickname of the Parson Bird  . The Tui is one of the more pretty birds here (IMHO), and has a wonderful song. They're nectar drinkers, about the size of lorrikeet.*** When getting there is half the fun! ***
How close did you get to the trout? Were you in Rotorua? I believe 1 Dec was opening of trout season. The creeks and streams are chock full of the fish, they're so easily spooked though. DId you use a polarising filter?

Why has that blackbird got a clove of garlic around his neck? Is that something normal in NZ? Did you kill the fish and eat it?  Regards

It's to keep the Aussies away! No, didn't keep the fish, it was in a wildlife park - same place as the lion cubs (I think they may feed the lions fish rather than possum ). Here's a couple of others from there:
